Moldova celebrates its Independence Day
On 27 August 1991, under a decision of the Great National Assembly in Chisinau, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova adopted the Declaration of Independence.
The Declaration stated Moldova's sovereignty and independence and its capability to determine, “freely and without external interference, its present and future in pursuance of its people’s ideals and aspirations”.
