Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary Konysbek Zhusupbekov takes part in the meeting.
The participants of the meeting are planning to approve the draft Action Plan Dedicated to the Year of Culture in the CIS, to be held in 2018 according to the decision of the CIS Council of Heads of State. The Azerbaijan Republic, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as the International Delphic Committee and Moscow State University submitted their proposals to the draft document.
According to the CIS Executive Committee press service, the Plan developed on the basis of the proposals includes six sections and 87 events, both international and national. They will contribute to the promotion of conditions for the spread of common humanistic values among the people of the Commonwealth countries and respect for cultures, languages and traditions of other people, preservation and development of historical and cultural heritage, using the potential of civil society for the expansion of cultural cooperation, development of art education and the advancement of scientific research in the field of culture, and the improvement of legal support for cultural cooperation.
In addition, members of the CIS Council for Cultural Cooperation will discuss the hosting in 2018 of the CIS international exhibition ART EXPO, which will review the achievements of the Commonwealth countries in the field of culture and art.
The exhibition is expected to become annual and will be held alternately in each of the countries of the Commonwealth. The Republic of Armenia will host the first ART EXPO. The event will take place in the city of Goris, a cultural capital of the Commonwealth in 2018 within the framework of the Intergovernmental Program "Cultural Capitals of the Commonwealth".
