IPA CIS Secretariat
In the margins of the 137th IPU Assembly the Secretary General – Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Alexey Sergeev met with the delegation of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) led by Secretary General Mohammad Reza Majidi.
The parties discussed cooperation prospects of the two organizations. Alexey Sergeev noted that the CIS and the APA had six shared member parliaments: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. Another CIS Member Nation – Turkmenistan – has an observer status at the APA.
The parties decided to bring the relations between the parliamentary organizations to a new level, including through a mutual exchange of observer status.
