Dmitriy Kobitskiy: Elections in Moldova Were Competitive and Open

A debriefing press conference of the CIS Observer Mission at the Parliamentary Elections in Moldova took place in Chisinau.

Head of the Mission, Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy noted that the observers worked in Moldova freely and independently adhering to the principle of non-interference in the electoral process and respecting the sovereignty of the state.

According to the observers, the CEC of Moldova bent every effort to ensure the high organizational level of the elections. The Commission provided for the opportunity to execute the constitutional right to participate in the elections for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova residing in Transnistria.

On the election day, the Mission representatives visited 452 polling stations. The observers worked in Chisinau and other regions of the Republic, as well as at foreign polling stations in Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russia, Greece, Israel, Italy, Canada, Belgium, Great Britain, Spain, the Netherlands, Portugal, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Germany, France, Czech Republic and Japan.

According to Dmitriy Kobitskiy, the Mission headquarters received the information on the processing of the complaints related to violations of the electoral law. The observers concluded that the processing of the complaints was held in accordance with the legislation.

Members of the monitoring group were present at the vote counting, which also met the legal requirements.
