IPA CIS International Observers Visited CEC of Kyrgyz Republic

As part of the short-term monitoring of the elections to the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic scheduled for 28 November 2021, the IPA CIS international observers headed by IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator, Chair of the Committee of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Defense and Security Issues Kutbidin Burkhanov, visited the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Chairperson of the CEC Nurzhan Shildabekova informed the observers in detail about the electoral reforms and about the peculiarities of holding elections in a mixed system. The observers were also provided with information on the measures taken to comply with the law and reduce electoral violations.
Nurzhan Shildabekova also told about the system of quotas for women and youth, and spoke about the automatic vote counting system.
In his turn, Kutbidin Burkhanov presented the results of long-term monitoring of the current electoral campaign, spoke about meetings with parties and candidates.
In total, 75 observers from the IPA CIS are accredited by the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda.
The elections to the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic are to be held on 28 November 2021 according to a mixed electoral system.
