IPA CIS Observers Met With Election Organisers in Region of Russia

The IPA CIS observers continue their meetings within the framework of the long-term monitoring of the Russian presidential elections.

On 4 March, the IPA CIS observers from Kazakhstan met with the members of the Novosibirsk Regional Election Commission.

Chair of the commission Olga Blago told about the peculiarities of the electoral system of the Russian Federation. The head of the REC drew attention to various methods of voting and to equipping polling stations with video surveillance systems.

On 5 March, the IPA CIS observers met with members of the Election commission of the Belgorod Region.

Chair of the REC Igor Lazarev informed about organisation of the elections in the Belgorod Region, the work of the election commissions on information issues.

Also, on 5 March a meeting was held in the election commission of the Saratov Region. Chair of the commission Tatiana Komoltseva discussed with representatives of the monitoring group the main stages of the international observers work.

On 6 March, the IPA CIS observers with members of the election commission of the republic of Karelia and representatives of the Public Monitoring Headquarters for the election campaign and voting in the Russian presidential elections.

During the long-term monitoring, the international observers from the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, United Kingdom and Palestine will monitor the main stages of the presidential election campaign, monitor the preparations and organisation of election in the Republic of Karelia.

Chair of the commission Alexey Bakhilin informed the observers about the electoral system of Karelia, about the preparations for the elections, about the methods and forms of voting, he also spoke about the technologies used.

Secretary of the commission Grigory Futrik drew attention to the possibility of voting for citizens with disabilities, persons who are not registered at their place of residence within the Russian Federation, persons in places of detention and other places of temporary stay.

Head of the Public Headquarters for the observation Alexey Taybakov and Head of the Executive Committee of the CRO “Association of Lawyers of Russia” Andrey Zakatov acquainted with the work of the public observation center during the election campaign. Observers were invited to take part in video surveillance of the elections.

The election of the President of Russia will be held on 17 March.
