Belarus acceded to the CIS Convention on Standards of Democratic Elections

The Republic of Belarus acceded to the CIS Convention on Standards of Democratic Elections, Voting Rights and Freedoms. The relevant Act on the Accession of the Republic of Belarus to the Convention on Standards of Democratic Elections adopted at the end of 2013 was officially published yesterday.

The Convention sets the standards of democratic elections covering judicial and other protection of voting rights and freedoms, as well as public and international election observation. It also declares unacceptable any direct or indirect activities by foreign nationals and legal entities, international movements and organizations, and persons with no citizenships in election-related efforts.
