Final press conference of the CIS Observer Mission in Chisinau

The final press conference of the CIS Observer Mission at the presidential election in the Republic of Moldova took place in Chisinau.
No serious violations during the election were recorded, said Head of the Mission, IPA CIS SG Alexey Sergeev. "This conclusion is based on the conducted observations. The presidential election of 30 October in Moldova was in line with the country's effective electoral law. The voting was free, open and competitive."
The Head of the Mission also stressed that the interaction with the CEC had been very efficient throughout the election: there were several meetings with CEC Chair Alina Russu. He also noted that the citizens had been timely updated on the upcoming election.
Coordinator of the team of IPA CIS international observers noted that they had surveyed all the stages of the voting process – from the launch of polling stations until the end of the ballot counting process. In total, members of the team observed 60 polling stations in Moldova. He also mentioned the high voter turnover and a big involvement of national observers.
Representative of the Russian CEC Alexander Kinev also attended the press conference and shared his views and findings.
