IPA CIS Observer Team Holds Wrap-Up Session in Minsk

Following the elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, the IPA CIS international Observer Team helda meeting chaired by Team Coordinator, First Deputy Chairman of the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Abdujabbor Azizi. The Team members exchanged their opinions on the outcomes of the short-term monitoring and their observations on the election day.
They pointed out that electoral legislation of the Republic of Belarus had created necessary conditions for holding free and open democratic elections. The election commissions carried out their duties in accordance with the national legislation on the basis of transparency and openness. The majority of candidates held their electoral campaigns in a peaceful atmosphere. An equal access to the printed and electronic media was given to all candidates.
While organizing and holding the elections, public authorities of the Republic of Belarus ensured that the status of observer teams was strictly respected and provided the observers with the support needed to perform their duties.
According to the IPA CIS Observer Team, the elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus were held in compliance with the rights and freedoms of all participants of the election process. They were fully consistent with universally recognized democratic principles and norms of the organizing and holding free and fair elections and international commitments of the Republic of Belarus in the electoral sphere.
