Republic of Moldova is electing President

The CIS Observer Mission which includes the IPA CIS Observer Team started their work at the presidential election in Moldova.

Head of the CIS Mission, Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Alexey Sergeev visited the opening of the Voting Office at the Main Directorate of the Public Company "Railway of Moldova". In an interview, he mentioned that the CIS Mission will assemble all its findings in a report that would be presented on 31 October.

Alexey Sergeev personally committed to visiting 10 voting offices. The CIS observers are expected to visit about 150 polling stations.

Coordinator of the IPA CIS Observer Team Akramsho Felaliev commented on the voting process which started at 7 am. Taking the opportunity to exchange views with international colleagues, the IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator held several meetings with Head of ODIHR Mission Douglas Wake. Alexey Sergeev attended one of the meetings.

The IPA CIS observers also met with OSCE Special Coordinator Arta Dade, Head of OSCE PA delegation Geir Joergen Bekkevold and Head of PA CE Mission Elisabeth Schneider-Schneiter.
