Experts Discussed Cooperation of CIS Countries in Field of Healthcare

The 36th meeting of the CIS Advisory Board on Cooperation in Field of Public Health was held today in Bishkek, the Kyrgyz Republic. Participants discussed the results of the Kyrgyzstan’s Chairmanship of the Advisory Board in 2023 and exchanged views on topical health issues and interaction of the CIS countries in this field.
Ministers and CIS Chief state sanitary doctors attended the meeting.
The members of the Council heard information on staffing in the field of health protection in the CIS countries, provision of medicines and monitoring of diabetes mellitus.
Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko spoke at the meeting. According to him, the coronavirus pandemic proved in practical terms the effectiveness of cooperation between the CIS healthcare systems.
Executive Secretary of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health, Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights Evgenia Vladimirova presented information on the activities of the Assembly.
Evgenia Vladimirova noted that the model laws on Marketing Food Products for Children and on Protection of the Population from the Effects of Tobacco Smoke and the Consequences of Consumption of Tobacco and Other Nicotine Containing Products are included into the Long-Term Plan of Model Law-Making of the Commonwealth of Independent States for 2023-2025 on the proposal of the WHO Regional Office for Europe.
WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge spoke on the sustainability of health systems in the CIS.
Also, draft Recommendations on the Organization of Measures on Sanitary Protection of the Territories of the CIS Countries and the Use of Information Systems for Monitoring of Sanitary-Epidemiological Threats in the Commonwealth were considered at the meeting.
