IPA CIS Develops Model Law on Countering Domestic Violence

On 29 May, a meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Legal Issues was held in St. Petersburg.

Representatives of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan took part in the meeting.

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy proposed that Chair of the Committee of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan on Legislation and Human Rights Rustam Shokhmurod be elected as the Chair of the Commission. The members of the Commission supported this proposal.

The parliamentarians discussed the progress of work on the draft Model Law on Contracts for the Transfer of Property for Use, Agreements for Performance of Work and Provision of Services, on the Contract of Storage, on Agency Contracts, and on the Contract of Partnership.

At the meeting, it was proposed to rename the Model Law on the Legal Regulation of Countering Domestic Violence to the Model Law on Countering Domestic Violence.

The documents were sent to the parliaments of the CIS Member States for expert opinions.
