Political Issues discussed in St. Petersburg

The members of the Commission will discuss the outcomes of the recent session of the Council of the CIS MFAs, findings of the IPA CIS observer team after the elections to the Lower Chamber of the Parliament of Tajikistan held on 1 March 2015, and the results of the Commission’s work in 2014.

The Commission will focus on the implementation of the Action Plan on the 70th Victory Anniversary, first and foremost, through the integration of the provisions of model law Preventing the Apology and Glorification of Nazism, Nazi Criminals and their Henchmen to national legislations, and think of legal support for combating neo-Fascism, neo-Nazism and attempts to review the outcomes of the Great Patriotic War. They will also work towards preparing the international conference on the 70th Anniversary of the End of WWII and discuss the work of the resource center for building lasting memories of courage and heroism of the CIS nations during the War of 1941-1945.

The session will also discuss Common Principles for Support to Parliaments proposed by the IPU and consider possible activities dedicated to 100 years of the beginning of WWI.
