Valentina Matvienko: "The upper chamber demonstrated its effectiveness and efficiency"

Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko took stock of the spring session at the final meeting of the season on 9 July. The Chamber held 14 meetings, including 4 extraordinary meetings or four meetings more than during the previous session. She said that the Chamber proved itself capable of effective and efficient work. One of the issues on the agenda was institutional arrangements for the new Supreme Court, and that on top of 85 legal proposals tabled and considered during the session.
