The National Day of National Sovereignty of Russia, as used to be called prior to 2002, is one of the latest celebratory days in modern Russia. To quote President Putin The document marked the beginning of our new history. A history of a new democratic statehood based on civil liberties and the rule of law. This will be the pathway to success, wellbeing and security of our nation.
Today, this celebration marks freedom, national union based on law and justice. This is a symbol of national consolidation and shared responsibility for the integrity of the nation today and in the future.
