Academia Reviewed IPA CIS Environmental Model Laws

On 7 April 2022, the Project Office for Arctic Development (Moscow) hosted the roundtable “Model Legislation as a Form of Implementing the Environmental Policy of the CIS Member Nations”.
The meeting was attended by leading specialists of the Russian Ecological Academy, the Research Institute of Environmental Problems, representatives of the Technical Committee for Standardization TC 409 “Environmental Protection”, the Committee on Ecology and Environment of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, as well as experts of the national project “Ecology”.
Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Ecology Natalia Amburtseva represented the IPA CIS Council Secretariat at the event.
During the roundtable, participants discussed the draft IPA CIS Model Laws on Production and Consumption Waste (revised) and on Protected Natural Landscapes (Revised). The experts noted the importance and relevance this model laws and stressed the need to coordinate the efforts of the public authorities of the CIS countries to improve the legal framework in order to preserve biodiversity.
