Fruitful intergovernmental partnership enhances rule of law and law-enforcement in the Commonwealth

On 26-28 September 2013 Bishkek hosted the ordinary meeting of the Coordination Board of Prosecutors General of Member Nations of the CIS.

At the meeting, the IPA CIS Secretariat was represented by Vladimir Bondourovskiy, Executive Secretary, IPA CIS Joint Commission on the Harmonization of National Legislation in Combating Terrorism, Crime and Illegal Drug Trafficking in the CIS, Deputy Head, Analytical Department. He thanked the Board for their efforts as a forum for respective CIS bodies.

The meeting feature reports on CIS cooperation programs on combating crime, terrorism and other forms of violent extremism, illegal drug and human trafficking, etc. The participants shared best practices in legal statistics, monitoring environmental law-abidance, as well as investigation and interrogation procedures.

The meeting stressed common interest in professional engagement of Prosecutor Offices of the CIS Member Nations together with the CIS Executive Council and the IPA CIS.

Drawing the outcome of the event. Alexander Zvyagintsev, Head of Russian delegation, Deputy Prosecutor General, expressed confidence that the Coordination Board and the IPA CIS will continue stepping up their efforts enhancing rule of law in the CIS.
