Model UN takes place in the Tavricheskiy Palace

The 23rd Model United Nations Conference is taking place in the Tavricheskiy Palace, the IPA CIS headquarters.
The meeting brought together representatives of St. Petersburg Administration, International Academy in St. Petersburg, school students from St. Petersburg, Belarus, Germany, Spain, Italy, Morocco, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, the USA, and Turkey.
The opening ceremony was attended by Acting Secretary General – Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Dmitriy Kobitskiy, his deputies – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Nuskabaj and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Irina Sokolova, as well as Deputy Executive Secretary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Viktor Rogalev.
The agenda of the conference traditionally featured the most pressing current issues: political settlement in Syria, arms control crisis prevention, preservation of natural recourses, cybersecurity and other relevant issues.
Model UN is an international project aimed at developing social responsibility, cooperation skills and teamwork, ability to interact in multi-national environment among young people. The project is implemented as an international program of supplementary education for high school students. The main area of activity within the framework of the program is holding of international conferences, modeling the work of the UN bodies, such as the Security Council, the General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council, etc.
