IPA CIS Delegation Met with PUIC Secretary General

On the margins of the 17th session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Member Nations of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) in Algiers, the delegation of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly met with PUIC Secretary General Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass.

Member of the Committee of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Social and Cultural Development and Science Aigul Kapbarova informed the Secretary General about the current activities of the IPA CIS and the events planned for the first half of the year. She spoke, in particular, about the upcoming international forum “St. Petersburg – the Parliamentary Capital of the Commonwealth”, dedicated to the 320th anniversary of the city, as well as the international conference on countering terrorism, scheduled for 13-14 April 2023.

Aigul Kapbarova also briefed on the current legislative work of the IPA CIS and promising projects developed by the Assembly, including the Travel Hub “Commonwealth” international tourism forum.

Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass expressed interest in the announced events and projects implemented by the IPA CIS.

The parties also discussed plans to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Igor Mussalimov.

The delegation of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly participates as an observer in the 17th PUIC Conference held in the capital of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. The session will last until 31 January. During the event, parliamentarians are expected to discuss a wide range of issues, such as African unity in the face of new challenges and threats, cooperation in the field of migration policy, the consequences of the food crisis, etc.
