International Day of Russian Language Celebrating Today
06 June 2025
The holiday was approved by the United Nations in 2010 and is celebrated on the birthday of the great poet Alexander Pushkin, who is considered the creator of the modern Russian literary language.
Russian is the working language of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. Model documents are drawn up in Russian, projects are implemented and events are held.
Considering the Russian Language as a basis for integration dialogue in the CIS, the Assembly with its partners organizes an international conference dedicated to the role of the Russian language in diplomacy and international relations, intercultural communication and the development of cooperation in various fields. This year’s conference will be held on 16-17 October at the IPA CIS headquarters - the Tavricheskiy Palace.
Russian language researchers from the CIS countries, parliamentarians, academia and experts will discuss the role of the Russian language in the CIS region, its use in AI texts, the possibilities and prospects of translation, the Russian language as a tool of rulemaking, the preservation of rare vocabulary and other topics.
