Members of IPA CIS Council Held a Number of Bilateral Meetings

Today, the Ceremonial Meeting of the IPA CIS Council dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the organization was held in Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan). On the margins of the event, the heads of parliamentary delegations continued to discuss issues of mutual interest in a bilateral format.
Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko and Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic Sahiba Gafarova highly appreciated the dynamics of the development of Russian-Azerbaijani relations.
At a meeting with Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Talant Mamytov, Valentina Matvienko emphasized that the Kyrgyzstani MPs contribute to maintain the systematic and effective work of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.
In a conversation with Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva, the Head of the Federation Council noted the high level of strategic partnership and cooperation between the two countries. Tanzila Narbaeva expressed her readiness to intensify bilateral cooperation.
On the same day, Valentina Matvienko met with Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalia Kochanova. The parties discussed issues of legislative support for the integration package approved on 4 November 2021 at the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Russia and Belarus.
Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev held today bilateral meetings with Natalia Kochanova, Tanzila Narbaeva, as well as with Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization Hans Kluge.
The day before, on 28 March 2022, Maulen Ashimbaev met with Sahiba Gafarova. The parties noted the high level of interaction between the legislative authorities of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan and stressed that parliaments build bridges in relations between the two countries.
