Azerbaijan and Tajikistan Aim to Expand Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation

Today in Dushanbe Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic Sahiba Gafarova, who is in Tajikistan on an official visit, met with Speaker of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Rustami Emomali.

During the meeting the parties discussed the state and prospects of relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Speaker of the upper house of the Tajik parliament Rustami Emomali said that today’s meeting was a follow up of the dialogue that had begun during his official visit to Azerbaijan this March.

Sahiba Gafarova emphasized that cross visits of heads of states were of great importance in strengthening relations between the two countries and their peoples. Parliaments also play a significant role in the development of bilateral relations.

During the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan in the political and diplomatic, trade and economic, scientific and technical, cultural, humanitarian and military-technical fields.

Today Sahiba Gafarova also met with Speaker of the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda.. 

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of strengthening cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Azerbaijan Republic in various fields, as well as other topics of mutual interest.

It was noted that Azerbaijan and Tajikistan share a lot in the cultural, historical and religious fields that can create a favorable basis for expanding cooperation. It was also stressed that the visits of parliamentary delegations of the two countries would help use each other’s experience in developing and adopting laws and other documents of regional and international importance.
