22 June is Day of Memory and Grief

On 22 June 1941, fascist Germany attacked the Soviet Union without declaring war.

A solemn and mournful ceremony of laying flowers and wreaths was held at the Piskarevskoye Memorial Cemetery in St. Petersburg.

The ceremony was attended by IPA CIS Secretary General Dmitriy Kobitskiy, Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Shabdanbek Alishev and Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Abdukhalil Gafurzoda, as well as the IPA CIS Secretariat staff members.

Representatives of the Assembly laid flowers at the memorial plaques in memory of the fallen soldiers from the former Soviet republics.
