Konstantin Kosachev and Aigul Kuspan Discussed Cooperation Within Inter-Parliamentary Union

On 9 February 2022, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev and Chairperson of the Eurasia Geopolitical Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security of Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aigul Kuspan held a meeting via videoconferencing. The conversation was held within the framework of the preparation for the participation in the 144th IPU Assembly and related events to be held on 20-24 March 2022 in the Republic of Indonesia.
According to the press service of the Federation Council, the parties paid special attention to discussing the coordinated actions of members parliaments of the Eurasia Group, including in connection with the establishment of a new award of the Inter-Parliamentary Union for parliamentarians in honor of co-founders of the IPU – members of the French and British Parliaments Frédéric Passy and William Cremer.
This award will be granted annually at the autumn IPU Assembly. The award winner will be invited to participate in the session and address the delegates. All active representatives of IPU member parliaments are entitled to be nominated. The winner will be determined by the IPU selection panel and announced on 30 June – the International Day of Parliamentarism.
