Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda: Parliament of Tajikistan Created Legal Basis for Country's Independence

The Parliament of Tajikistan summed up the results of parliamentary work for 30 years since the 16^th session of the Supreme Council. Speaker of the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda in his speech analyzed how the parliament developed the legal framework for the economic and socio-political development of the Republic of Tajikistan.  

He recalled that the 16^th session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan, at which Emomali Rakhmon was elected Speaker of the Parliament, was aimed at restoring the constitutional order, stabilizing the political situation, ensuring the rule of law and socio-economic development of society. He also recalled that in 1999, the Constitution of the Republic was first amended through a nationwide referendum. As a result, a bicameral parliament was created. In his speech, Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda also analyzed the activities of the Majlisi Oli. In addition, the Speaker of the Majlisi namoyandagon emphasized the role of the President in adopting important laws for the republic, improving their meaning and content.
