Russian Federation Celebrates National Flag Day
22 August 2024
Every year on 22 August, the Russian Federation celebrates the National Flag Day, established on the basis of the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of 20 August 1994. On 22 August 1991, the tricolor Russian flag was officially raised over the White House in Moscow for the first time, replacing the former state symbol.
On 25 December 2000, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed the Federal Constitutional Law on the National Flag of the Russian Federation, according to which the flag is a rectangular panel of three equal horizontal stripes: the top is white, the middle is blue and the bottom is red.
