Senators of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Discussed Problems of Aral Sea

On 22 April 2022, the second meeting of the Commission on Cooperation between the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan took place in the Aral district of the Kyzylorda region (Kazakhstan).
The meeting was aimed at strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in solving issues of restoration of the Aral Sea and protection of its ecosystem, as well as in the implementation of joint educational projects in the field of science and ecology. Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev opened the meeting. He stressed that today Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan had reached a new level of cooperation in the history of relations between the two fraternal peoples, and expressed hope that this would contribute to solve the problems of the Aral Sea, which is important for both countries.
Deputy Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Shakirov moderated the event. Deputy Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodiq Safoev led the Uzbek delegation.
