Speaker of Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyz Republic met with Leadership of Russian Parliament

On 25 April, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Shakiev met with Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko and Speaker of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin as part of an official visit to Russia. The sides discussed issues of expanding inter-parliamentary relations and increasing political-economic and cultural-humanitarian relations between the two countries.

During the meeting Valentina Matvienko noted that the intensity of Russian-Kyrgyz contacts, forums, meetings at various levels showed the mutual desire to enhance the strategic partnership and alliance.

The Federation Council Speaker pointed out that the head of the Kyrgyz parliament visited Russia on the eve of the visit of President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov and his participation in the events dedicated to the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War. This year on 9 May a monument to Kyrgyz civilians killed near Rzhev will be unveiled.

The parties discussed the presidency of the Kyrgyz Republic in the CIS in 2023 and preparations for the autumn session of IPA CIS scheduled to be held in Bishkek on 16-17 November.

Valentina Matvienko invited the delegation of Kyrgyzstan to take part in the 10th Nevsky International Ecological Congress that will be held on 25-26 May in St. Petersburg.
