Tajikistan Celebrates National Unity Day

On 27 June, Tajikistan celebrates National Unity Day, also known as Day of National Reconciliation. This is one of the main national holidays, symbolizing peace, harmony, and unity among the people.
On this day 25 years ago, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and leader of the United Tajik Opposition Sayid Abdulloh Nuri signed the General Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and National Accord in Tajikistan, thus ending the five-year civil war. This agreement created the conditions for the democratic development, the holding of free elections and the restoration of the country’s economy.
The holiday was established in accordance with the decree of President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
Speaker of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Rustami Emomali congratulated the Tajik people on the holiday.
The holiday is a non-working day. According to tradition, on this day there are festive and entertaining events, concerts and mass festivities throughout the country.
