The Republic of Armenia Celebrates the Constitution Day

Every year on 5 July, the Republic of Armenia celebrates the Constitution Day – the country’s basic law. On this day in 1995, the draft Constitution was put to a referendum and adopted by the Armenians.
The Constitution of the Republic of Armenia of 1995 became the first Constitution of an independent republic. In 2005 and 2015 the Constitution was amended and approved by national referendums.
Under the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic, the Republic of Armenia is a sovereign, democratic, social, legal state in which power belongs to the people and is exercised through free elections, referendums, as well as through state bodies, local authorities and officials provided for by the Constitution. The President is the guarantor of the independence, territorial integrity and security of the Republic.
