Council of Legislators of the Russian Federation dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Russian parliamentarism took place in the Tavricheskiy Palace in St. Petersburg

Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko and Speaker of the State Duma Sergey Naryshkin opened the session of the Council of Legislators of the Russian Federation dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Russian parliamentarism.

Valentina Matvienko congratulated her colleagues on their professional holiday – the Day of Russian Parliamentarism. She reminded that the reformed State Council of the Russian Empire started its work together with the first State Duma and took effective efforts in advocating the interests of Russian regions.

The members of the Council focused on the implementation of the Presidential Address to the Federal Assembly, issues of international cooperation and legislative policy.

Speaker of the State Duma Sergey Naryshkin emphasized that the Day of Russian Parliamentarism was a landmark event not only for the Russian Federation but for the whole world.

The session was also attended by members of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, members of the State Duma, heads of regional legislative bodies, representatives of Presidential Administration and the Government of the Russian Federation.

Before the session the participants had attended the historical exhibition devoted to the history of Russian Parliamentarism.

The exhibition showed more than 30 original archival documents. Some of them were exhibited for the first time.
