Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic elects the new Speaker

Members of parliament elected Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Two nominees for the position ran for the elections.
According to Chair of the Canvassing Commission Mirlan Zheenchroev, the results of the secret vote showed 88 votes for Chynybay Tursunbekov and 26 votes for Iskhak Masaliev. Three members voted against both of the nominees.
Newly elected Speaker Chynybay Tursunbekov thanked the voters for their trust.
On 13 April, Asylbek Zheenbekov stepped down as Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic.
