May Day celebrated across the CIS

Most of the CIS countries kept May 1 in their calendars as a holiday, albeit under different names. Labor Day in Armenia and Belarus, National Unity Day in Kazakhstan, Day of International Solidarity of Workers in the Ukraine, Tajikistan and Moldova. In Russia it is now known as the Day of Spring and Labor.
