Upper Chamber of Russian Parliament to Analyze Legislation Considering COVID-19

Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko said that she intended to establish a working group to analyze the legislation, considering the situation with the spread of COVID-19 at tomorrow's meeting of the upper chamber of parliament.

Valentina Matvienko stressed that the working group would study the current legislation and analyze the changes to be done in respect to the new realities.

The Speaker of the Federation Council also believes that it is necessary to work out issues in the field of labor relations, particularly conserning theremote work. According to the head of the upper chamber of parliament, it is necessary to find a balance between the business interest and the protection of citizens in emergency situations.

Valentina Matvienko noted that the situation with the spread of COVID-19 has revealed a number of issues requiring adjustment of the legal framework in this sector, including the health insurance.

On 17 April, at the following meeting, the upper chamber plans to review the new anti-crisis legislative package. It is expected that tomorrow, the State Duma will adopt it in the third reading.
