CIS Council of Permanent Representatives Hold Regular Meeting

On 22 September 2020, a meeting of the Council of the Permanent Representatives of the CIS Member Nations at the Statutory and Other Bodies of the Commonwealth took place in the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk under the presidency of Uzbekistan.
On behalf of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly the event was attended by representative of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat at the CIS Executive Committee Igor Borovko.
The permanent representatives discussed the preparation for the regular meetings of the Council of the CIS Foreign Ministers and the Council of the CIS Heads of State, which will be held via video-conferencing on 15 and 16 October respectively and the procedure of signing of the international treaties at those meetings.
The permanent representatives were briefed on the information on the contribution of the basic organizations, established within the CIS, to the cooperation within the Commonwealth.
The meeting also discussed the implementation of the provisions of the Free Trade Agreement on 18 October 2011 and noted the need to further eliminate trade barriers to promote economic growth and development of mutual trade.
The members of the Council also discussed the issue of the nomination of candidates from the CIS to the positions of the Secretary General and Heads of the OSCE and the implementation of the Memorandum on Strengthening Cooperation between the CIS Executive Committee and the Eurasian Economic Commission of 27 November 2018.
The members also agreed on the candidacies of the heads of the CIS observer teams at the presidential elections in the Republic of Tajikistan on 11 October and the Republic of Moldova on 1 November. The observer team in Tajikistan will be headed by Chairman of the Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev and the observer team in Moldova – by his First Deputy Viktor Guminskiy.
