CIS Experts Discussed Labor, Employment and Social Security

Today, the CIS Executive Committee hosted the 33rd meeting of the CIS Advisory Board on Labor, Employment and Social Security, which was held via videoconferencing.
The event brought together members of the Advisory Board or their plenipotentiary representatives and experts from the Azerbaijan Republic, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, the General Confederation of Trade Unions, the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee, the International Union “Commonwealth of Civil Society Organizations of Veterans (Pensioners) of Independent States”, the International Labour Organization and the CIS Executive Committee.
The participants discussed a broad range of issues, related to ensuring employment, labor protection, state support for families, development of living standards and legislation in this area.
Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights Evgenia Vladimirova represented the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly at the meeting. She informed the participants about the progress in the preparation of the Model Law on Ensuring Children's Rights to Health Care in the CIS.
She also briefed on the progress in the drafting of the CIS Model Labour Code and stressed that a number of provisions has become especially relevant during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as the norms on remote work, combined working arrangements, etc.
Evgenia Vladimirova also made a presentation on the draft Model Laws on Refugees, on Access to Information on the Legal Status of Citizens and the Model CIS Agreement on the Bank of Invalid Identity Documents.
She focused on the Model CIS Migration Code, which is expected to be considered at the new meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights.
The meeting also discussed the draft CIS Recommendations on Assessment of Working Conditions and the draft CIS Requirements for Control (Oversight) of Compliance with Labor Legislation. The meeting participants decided to suggest the inclusion of the above-mentioned documents into the Long-Term Plan of Model Law-Making of the CIS for 2020-2022.
