Nurbek Satvaldiev Took Part in 11th Plenary Session of TurkPA

On 24 June 2022, the 11^th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries (TurkPA) took place in Cholpon-Ata (Kyrgyz Republic).

The event was attended by Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erlan Koshanov, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Talant Mamytov, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Mustafa Şentop and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary Sándor Lezsák (as observer).

Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurbek Satvaldiev represented the IPA CIS Council Secretariat at the event. During his speech, Nurbek Satvaldiev noted that the IPA CIS was developing partnership relations with all parliaments of the TurkPA countries. He also stressed that that one of the key fields of partnership was cooperation in countering international terrorism and violent extremism. The IPA CIS representative also stressed that the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly was always open to dialogue, and the MPs of the CIS Member Nations are ready to cooperate both on a bilateral and multilateral basis to strengthen the role of parliamentarism in the modern world.

During the plenary session, the participants were acquainted with the reports and considered the recommendations of the TurkPA Permanent Commissions. The participants also heard the final reports of observers from the TurkPA Monitoring Missions.

As the end of the event, the Cholpon-Ata Declaration of the 11^th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries was adopted. In addition, a document on renaming the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries into the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic States was signed.
