Commonwealth RRs meet in Belarus

The Resident Representatives discussed the activities of the CIS Joint Chiefs of National Information Agencies of the CIS.
To this date, the group brings together the public information agencies from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia and Tajikistan. The group is chaired by Sergey Mikhaylov, Director of TASS News Agency (Russia). Its purpose is to facilitate information exchange and develop media technologies in the CIS.
The Resident Representatives stressed the structured approach of Joint Chiefs in developing media environment across the CIS and its significant contribution in covering the multi-faceted engagement within the CIS and raising awareness about current realities of the CIS nations.
The session also considered the draft agenda of the regular session in Dushanbe on 30 October and approved the nomination of the CIS Execom Sergey Lebedev as leader of the observation mission for the presidential elections in Belarus scheduled for 19 August.
