Experts concerned over the nations health
21 February 2014
According to the Execom Press-service, the paper is meant to add coherence into national health plans in the CIS to build their capacities to cope with a broad range of conditions in a comprehensive way.
Concerns over the state of health were triggered by increased stress due to hardships and demands of social intercourse and the growing technological, psychological and military risks. Another reason underpinning the document is the deteriorating demography across the CIS. Dwindling populations, high mortality, shrinking active age-groups, especially youth and low birth rates in a number of CIS countries, spread of NIDs, heavy smoking and high alcohol consumption – all contribute to the negative picture.
It expected that after the drafting exercise, the paper will be submitted for approval to the Council of the CIS Heads of State.
