Meeting of the Plenipotentiary Council in Minsk

The CIS Execom hosted a regular meeting of the Council of Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS at Statutory and other Bodies of the Commonwealth.
Chairman of the Executive Committee cum Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergey Lebedev attended the meeting. He noted the high level of hosting the Council session on 7 June in Bishkek and stated that the heads of government reaffirmed the need to preserve the CIS as a unique regional organization and supported a balanced and pragmatic approach to the matter of adapting the Commonwealth to current realities. Chair of the Plenipotentiary Council Kubanychbek Omuraliyev reported on this matter during the meeting.
The meeting focused on discussing the feasibility to amend the Rules of Procedures of the Council of Heads of State, Council of Heads of Government, Council of MFAs, CIS Economic Council, as well as the draft Decision of the CIS Heads of State on the Adaptation of the Commonwealth to New Realities. The participants also approved Sergey Lebedev as Head of the Observation Mission at the parliamentary elections in Belarus on 11 September 2016.
