Sergei Lebedev: "The Commonwealth looks far ahead"
14 December 2016
Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergei Lebedev spoke about the Commonwealth of Independent States in an interview to the “Evening Minsk”.
“I have repeatedly mentioned that maintaining good-neighborly, mutually beneficial and respectful relations is an obvious necessity of the geographically adjacent states with centuries of common history. I am firmly convinced that this necessity has been and will remain a safeguard of our communion.
In my opinion, the documents, adopted at the Council of the CIS Heads of Government and Council of the CIS Heads of State contain a convincing reflection of the perspectives of the Commonwealth. Just to mention a few of them, this October the following documents have been adopted in Minsk: Decision on the Action Plan on Implementation of the Strategy of Development of Hydro-Meteorological Activities in the CIS Member Nations (second stage: 2016-2020), Decision on the Cooperation Plan of the CIS Member Nations on Building and Development of the Information Society until 2025, Decision on the Forecasting of Production and Consumption of Energy by the CIS Member Nations, etc. This is a real proof of the fact that the Commonwealth is thinking far ahead and looking to the future".
