Session of the CIS Council on Tourism took place in St. Petersburg

Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary Konysbek Jusupbekov welcomed the participants of the session. He noted the important role of the Council as a platform for exchange on relevant issues, implementation of decisions and building an aligned policy in the field of tourism across the CIS.

The participants of the meeting shared practices of legal regulation of the tourism industry and promoting the most favorable condition for developing tourism in each of the CIS countries.

The meeting focused on the development of cross-border tourism routes connecting cultural and natural landmarks. "We have a common cultural heritage along the Great Silk Road. This drives our commitment to developing cross-border routes with our CIS partners", noted Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Alla Manilova.

The meeting also discussed investment opportunities in tourism, the action plan for 2015-2017 and the new policies for 2018-2020.

Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation at the IPA CIS Irina Sokolova and Chief, Drafting Support Unit for Model Law-Making on Social and Humanitarian Issues Konstantin Pshenko attended the meeting.

This year, the Russian Federation chairs the CIS Council on Tourism.
