Table-top arbitration process in the Tavricheskiy Palace

Sponsors of the exercise were the IPA CIS Council Secretariat, the International Center for Dispute Resolution at the CIS Economic Tribunal. The mock process was witnessed by Russian and international legal practitioners, researchers and educators of law. Dispute resolution is a hot topic everywhere. To deal with the challenge in a practical way, the CIS Economic Tribunal in 2008 established the International Center for Dispute Resolution. Up to 80% of all disputes lend themselves for mediated out-of-court resolution, according to the best practices available. Mediated resolution of disputes became even more relevant as the world is being shaken by the financial and economic crisis. As of this date, the Center has drafted necessary rules and procedures as well as lists of arbiters and mediators.
