The CIS Executive Committee celebrates its 20th anniversary

In accordance with the Decision of the Council of the CIS Heads of State on improving and reforming the structure of CIS bodies of 2 April 1999, the CIS Executive Secretariat, the staff of the Intergovernmental Economic Committee of the Economic Union, as well as staffs member of interstate and intergovernmental industry bodies were reorganized into a single permanent executive administrative and coordinating body, the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Throughout the 20 years of working in this format, the Executive Committee of the CIS has successfully and productively performed its main function to manage the Council of the Heads of State, the Council of the Heads of Government, the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Economic Council and other bodies of the Commonwealth. In addition, the main areas of activity of the CIS Executive Committee, set out in the relevant Statement, include approximation of legislation and improvement of the legal framework for cooperation and integration of the Commonwealth states.
