First Meeting of Youth Discussion Club Tavricheskiy Considered Referendums

On 21 April the first meeting of the international youth discussion club “Tavricheskiy” was held. The discussion was devoted to the topic “Referendum: Past, Present and Future”. Participants were represented by students from the IPA CIS partner, participants of the Youth Parliamentary School 2021 and 2022 and experts of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD).
Participants exchanged opinions on the main points, role and pitfalls of plebiscites, discussed the specialties of referendums within the Commonwealth and the range of possible issues for voting.
The meeting of the club was organized by the IPA CIS IIMDD.
The club meetings were held in a hybrid format at several venues: Tavricheskiy Palace, the Uzbek Cultural Center of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, a branch of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia in Tashkent, the Belarusian State University, the Belgorod State Technological University named after V. G. Shukhov, and other universities of the CIS countries.
