First joint meeting of the YIPA CIS and the CIS Advisory Board on Youth Affairs takes place in Kazan

For the first time young parliamentarians, leaders of youth public organizations and representatives of executive bodies for youth affairs brought together in Kazan to discuss the key issues and documents in the field of the CIS international youth cooperation.

Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin addressed the participants of the meeting with a welcoming speech. “I am pleased that for the first time such active young people arrived at a joint meeting of the YIPA CIS and the CIS Advisory Board on Youth Affairs specifically in Kazan. I am pleased to welcome here the leaders of youth policy and the CIS activists”.

YIPA CIS Coordinator, member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Tatiana Lebedeva added that day Kazan, without exaggeration, held a very significant event of youth policy and youth cooperation in the CIS.

In his turn Chairman of the CIS Advisory Board on Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Association of Public Organizations “National Youth Council of Russia” Grigory Petushkov informed young parliamentarians – YIPA CIS members about the Advisory Board on Youth Affairs, its structure, goals and objectives. He also encouraged the participants to support Kazan in the competition for the status of the “Youth Capital of Europe”.

As part of the discussion of the best practices in the implementation of the CIS youth policy, the host country presented a report. The federal and regional aspects of the state youth policy of Russia were presented by Olga Chernysheva, Director of the State Youth Policy and Social Projects Department in the field of higher education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and Damir Fattakhov, Minister of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan. Note that the Republic of Tatarstan is the current leader of the All-Russian rating on the implementation of youth policy, including its international vector.

In the course of the meeting, young parliamentarians and representatives of the executive authorities exchanged information on the implementation of the Action Plan for 2018–2020 for the implementation of the Strategy for International Youth Cooperation of the States Parties to the Commonwealth of Independent States until 2020.

Grigory Petushkov also informed his colleagues about the draft Strategy for 2021-2030, which will be approved at the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS.

An active discussion developed around the Concept of Development of Cooperation between the CIS Member States in supporting the youth volunteer (volunteer) movement and measures for its implementation.
