57 Observers from IPA CIS Accredited to Observe Parliamentary Elections in Tajikistan

In accordance with the invitation from the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, a group of international observers from the IPA CIS has been formed to monitor the elections to the Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli.
The Central Commission for Elections and Referendums of the Republic of Tajikistan accredited 57 members of the group. It included MPs representing Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Uzbekistan, staff members of the IPA CIS and experts from the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD).
MPs from the Commonwealth countries will also take part in a flower-laying ceremony at the Victory Park memorial in Dushanbe.
On 2 March 2025, the international observers from the IPA CIS will conduct monitoring in Tajikistan, as well as at foreign polling stations in 10 countries: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Belgium, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea and France.
On 28 February 2025, the IPA CIS Observers met with the leadership of the Party of Economic Reforms. The parties discussed issues of accessibility of elections, organization of voting abroad and the work of observers at polling stations.
Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy spoke about the composition of the group of international observers and stressed that observers from the IPA CIS adhere to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of the state and see their task in providing effective assistance and improving electoral processes in the Commonwealth.
Answering the observers’ questions, the party leader noted that its candidates do not encounter obstacles in their campaigning work and have free access to the media.
Representatives of the Communist Party of Tajikistan shared their opinion on the preparations for the elections. Deputy Chair of the Party Zarragul Mirsanova said that candidates had the opportunity to meet with voters from all walks of life - in mahallas, at the market, wherever they can bring their program to a large number of people.
At the meeting of the IPA CIS observers with Chair of the Socialist Party of Tajikistan Gulom Halimzoda and the party’s candidates, issues of interaction with election administration bodies, as well as the specifics of the campaign, were discussed.
The observers from the IPA CIS met with Chair of the Agrarian Party of Tajikistan Rustam Latifzoda, who acquainted the observers with the main provisions of the party’s program. He said that in the campaign, candidates focused on face-to-face meetings with voters and use airtime on state and non-state TV channels. The chair of the party also noted the good cooperation with the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums. On election day, more than 950 observers from the party will work at polling stations.
