IPA CIS Observers Discussed Preparations for Parliamentary Election in Tashkent and at Polling Stations Abroad

On 26 September, as part of the long-term monitoring of the election of MPs to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the IPA CIS international observers visited the Tashkent City Territorial Election Commission.
At the Tashkent City Territorial Election Commission, Adviser to the Secretary General – Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Sergey Karavaev and Head of the IPA CIS IIMDD Expert Group Stanislav Tkachenko met with Chair of the Commission Abdulla Magrupov, as well as Member of the Commission Fathulla Nigmanov, and digital technology staff of the Commission. The parties discussed the preparations for the elections in Tashkent.
The Tashkent City Territorial Election Commission has formed 861 polling stations. A total of 9123 commission members work in the election commissions of Tashkent. The composition of all election commissions was formed in a timely manner, and in August-September 2024, training was organized for commission members by experts of the CEC of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as by engaged scientists from the leading research and training centers of Uzbekistan.
In Tashkent, the election will be held in 12 single-mandate districts. On the election day, the Tashkent City Territorial Election Commission will be the center where the results of voting both in single-mandate districts and in party list voting will be reported.
The Tashkent City Territorial Election Commission together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan is organizing voting in diplomatic and consular offices of 40 states, where 57 polling stations will be opened. Abdulla Magrupov highly appreciated the level of cooperation between his commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in organizing voting at foreign polling stations.
