Research and Practice Conference “Problems of Law in Modern Russia” Started at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University

Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) hosted the plenary session of the 26^th Annual All-Russian Research and Practice Conference “Problems of Law in Modern Russia” to mark the 80^th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Leading specialists and experts in law and jurisprudence from the CIS countries and beyond attended the event.

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy sent his greetings to the organisers and participants of the conference. He congratulated the participants on the anniversary of the Victory, emphasising that that date served as a reminder of the importance of unity, strength of spirit, and the courage of the Soviet people.

“Law should serve as a tool to maintain justice, protect human rights and freedoms, and we should work on its development together,” the Secretary General noted in his address, which was read out by Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – Director of the International Institute for Monitoring the Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD), Doctor of Law, Professor Ivan Mushket.

The plenary session discussed issues relating to the Nuremberg trials, the role of prosecutors during wartime, and cyber security in the social and legal context.
