Work with Youth is one of main Directions of Yerevan Office of IPA CIS IIMDD

On 20 March, a meeting was held to summarize the results of the work of the Yerevan Office of International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD) in 2024. The event was held in the format of a video bridge between St. Petersburg and Yerevan.
The event was opened by Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – Director of the IPA CIS IIMDD, Doctor of Law, Professor Ivan Mushket.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hyak Chilingaryan, Member of the Permanent Commission of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on Regional and Eurasian Integration Issues, Chair of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Economy and Finance Alexey Sandykov, Deputy Chair of the Central Election Commission of Armenia Nuneh Hovhannisyan, experts of the Institute and staff members of the Secretariat.
Director of the Yerevan Office of the IPA CIS IIMDD Vahram Avetisyan in his report on the results of the work in 2024, noted that the Office was active in monitoring and research activities.
As part of a group of international observers from IPA CIS, the department’s staff participated in the parliamentary elections in Belarus and the presidential elections in Russia.
The educational and methodological manual “Youth Participation in Elections: Increasing the Electoral Activity of Young Voters in the Republic of Armenia” was published in Russian and Armenian.
Last year also saw the publication of a collective monograph prepared by the Office entitled “Development of Parliamentarism in the Republic of Armenia”.
In December 2024 the Yerevan Branch of the IPA CIS IIMDD organised an international research and practical conference “Parliamentary Culture and Ethics as Factors of Development and Strengthening of Parliamentarism”.
Hayk Chilingaryan described the work of the Yerevan Office as extensive and effective and supported its efforts and plans for 2025. Nuneh Hovhannisyan also appreciated the activities of the Office and noted the interest of CEC staff take in the events organised by the Office.
Ivan Mushket noted that the discussion on parliamentary culture and ethics can be continued and expanded, including on the platform of other offices of the IPA CIS IIMDD.
According to the Director of the Institute, the participation of parliamentarians and representatives of the Central Election Commission of Armenia in the meeting underlines the importance and relevance of the Office’s work.
